Good for content review, not so good for NCLEX study.

Not a bad resource for pharmacology class, but not a good resource for NCLEX study. There seems to be some inconsistency with the principles in the rationales throughout the book. For example, for NCLEX, you're not supposed to add anything to the question stem that isn't there, and you're not supposed to read into an answer to the extent that you need to start making up a story for why the answer choice could make sense. Yet there are questions in the book where selecting the "right answer" would require you to infer something that is NOT in the question stem, or make up a story for the answer to work.

E.g. There is a question about an obese person with tachycardia, restlessness, etc., shows up in the ER, and the right answer is that the nurse asks the client how long he's been taking appetite suppressants. Well, you could ask the client IF he is taking them, but there's no clear indication anywhere in the stem that he is; more to the point there are other answers that make sense, so why would you necessarily infer that the patient's problem is abuse of appetite suppressants when you haven't ruled out other possibilities that are just as likely (e.g. use of amphetamines)... The answer fits, but you have to add information to the stem that isn't there, and you could just as easily add information for other answer choices that makes sense... In short, the question strays from the very principles of problem solving that the NCLEX is designed to test, such as don't add things to the stem that aren't there, and don't make up a story for why an answer could work.

On the other hand, the content review of this book is very helpful. My complaint is that the questions that undermine NCLEX taking principles might just add more confusion and frustration to somebody who is trying to master those principles (and pass the NCLEX).

This information in this book will help some, but not all of it. The publish date is 2014 and some of the information is outdated which leads to wrong answer and false positives. If you are using this to help study for an exam then make your first choice for study materials to be your text book. Don't use this exclusively as some of the answer and rationale may be wrong now.

Not What I Thought it was going to be...

****SPOILER ALERT****

Culture Shock is a coming of age story that follows a girl that comes from a neglected home from birth until adulthood.

When I first read the synopsis I thought it would be an interesting read which towards the end it was, however I really found the back story told in the parent's POV, the development of the story, and the development of the characters to be quite depressing. All of the main characters' behaviors and attitudes were appalling and selfish for most of the book and it wasn't until Helen ran away that the story began to really develop towards something more. The author does well in describing the different places in Australia that Helen's journey of self-discovery takes her on not to mention the brief back story of the Aboriginal people's trouble with the Government and the abuse of their sacred lands. All in all the ending was satisfactory as Helen reconciles with her father and manages to find happiness in her life despite everything she has gone through. The book has mention of hard core drugs, murder, domestic abuse, prostitution, abortion, pregnancy, and there are sex scenes. It is definitely not a teen read although it is about a teen's life. I like the cover.

About the Author
Tim O'Connor is an award-winning journalist who has written about golf for thirty years and plays the game avidly. Tim is the editor of Single Plane Golfer magazine published by the Graves Golf Academy. Tim has written three previous golf books, including The Feeling of Greatness: The Moe Norman Story, and he edited The Final Missing Piece of Ben Hogan s Secret Puzzle. Tim has written for GOLF, Golf World, LINKS, Golfweek, SCOREGolf, and Golf Canada. He was golf columnist for The Financial Post and covered golf for the radio division of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Tim was named International Network of Golf Reporter of the Year three straight years (1994-96). He was music critic for the Canadian Press news agency and has done communications consulting for the golf industry. Tim lives in Rockwood, Ontario, with his wife Sandy and sons, Corey and Sean.

Understanding Moe

Having discovered Moe's single plane swing I was curious about how he came to it and why he didn't achieve more with it. This book certainly gives a great insight into these issues. If Moe had not been so different we would all be poorer for not having his method which in my opinion is how golf should be taught. While he achieved much in golf and obviously amazed the many who were lucky enough to see him in person, those same differences limited his achievements.
This book tells a great story about a great but flawed man in an easily readable manner.

Moe deserves more recognition for his contribution to golf and this book certainly assists in understanding the man and his legacy, the true single plane swing.

Moe Norman

I was hoping for a little more insight in the man. This book seems to me to make the same points, page after page, chapter after chapter. Moe continually sabotaged himself due to his overwhelming fear of the burden of success............got it. That could have been stated in a pamphlet rather than a book. I would have like to have had more 'real life' examples of how this fear manifested itself in his life and the life of those around him. Not a bad book. It just didn't provide the in-depth look, accompanied by examples, of a very troubled man that I had hoped for.

The Flagship of Moe Norman Biographies.

I wanted to know more about Moe Norman, and I made the mistake of reading "Moe & Me" by Lorne Rubenstein first because the cover looked more modern. As it turned out, "Moe & Me" was more of an author centered memoir that did not give a full account of Moe's life.

"The Feeling of Greatness," however, left no stone unturned in the life of Moe Norman. O'Connor did a masterful job of blending Moe's playing career and personal life. O'Connor also went to great lengths to discredit -- but of course, still mention -- unverifiable myths, even those that came straight from Moe's mouth. He separates the legendary folklore surrounding Moe as either true or untrue. He pointed out which stories about Moe were exaggerated and often revealed a more realistic version told by those who shared the moment with Moe.

O'Connor organized the chapters quite nicely. The book moves in chronological order. O'Connor was even able to construct a coherent narrative out of Moe's life, a difficult task for any biographer. Most of the book pieced together Moe's playing career with whatever stories may have blossomed about Moe in certain tournaments. There is one chapter toward the end that does a complete analysis of Moe's swing. Such an analysis was a break from the narrative, but it did not appear out of place, as it stood sandwiched between a chapter about Moe's psychological health and a chapter on Moe's declining physical health.

Moe Norman is by no means a household name in the United States, but for those of us who play golf that hear about Moe's legend for the first time, there is no doubt a sparked interest. One's journey to learn about Moe may begin on youtube looking for an analysis of his swing or his numerous clinics that were recorded and posted. If one's interest in Moe is not quenched through video footage of his swing alone, "The Feeling of Greatness" is the beginning and end of everything one could want to know about golf's all time greatest ball striker.

FRED SOLLISH, MS, C.P.M. Gives a good overview of the Procurement Cycle with concise explanations. Better suited for those new to Procurement and Supply Chain concepts than those working in the field or with a SCM background.

This book wasn't quite what I was looking for but would recommend it to someone who is trying to improve their general knowledge of Procurement either in the workplace or in academia.

Is it surprising that this obscure book is suddenly number two in sales in its category as this review is being written one week after the election of Donald Trump?

Fascism is a loaded word, and this book, "Friendly Fascism" attempts to analyze the fascist currents in modern democracies with some degree of scholarly removal so that we can look rationally at the state of our society. Gross was showing how many elements of Fascism were firmly embedded in American Society in the 1980s. While the historical context of the book is not up to date, the analysis is still very relevant. The book gives the reader some understanding of Fascism and its history, so that the reader can identify and resist the Fascism of corporativism. If one were to apply Gross's analysis one might say that the election of Trump was not the election of a potential Fascist to turn American Society Fascist. Instead, the dissatisfaction that led to Trump's election was probably driven by deep dissatisfaction with economic hardship and income inequality that to some extent was a result of fascistic elements already present in our country.

For those of us struggling to come to grips with what is happening in the US, this book is illuminating and well worth reading. I have found it compelling. The ideas in it are not new to me - they have been picked up by other, later, writers like Chris Hedges. But the historical context on the whole is quite good, and for me I felt that it did - oddly - give me some comfort.

Sad to say, Gross's predictions and warnings have joined those of the distopian novelists; they have been taken as a roadmap, not a warning. We are closer than ever to becoming the world's worst state.

Destined to be an occult classic

It is appropriate that an important contribution to occult literature is to be found in a slim volume with an unassuming and quirky title.

The author presents sufficient theory and practice that will allow even a neophyte to access in a reasonably safe and suprisingly convenient manner the astral realms. Quite an accomplishment. But this is by no means only a book for beginners. Advanced practitioners (assuming they have an open mind) will find a great deal to ponder and benefit from in this volume. Anyone serious about magickal practice or even just magickal theory should acquire this book and consider its contents carefully. They will be well repaid for their efforts.

Aleister Crowley was the baddest of bad boys. He made great advancements in the magickal realm while sending shock waves through the clubby and largely ineffectual grade system of traditional occult fraternities, It is no small irony that the magickal orders that profess to be Thelemic are as full of pretentious poseurs as those that Crowley blasted with his extraordinary talent and application. I suspect that his book will not be well liked by those in authority in Crowleyian magickal orders. The author reveals too many secrets for comfort. I believe Crowley would have approved of this book that captures the spirit of authentic Thelemic magickal theory and practice.

Magickal principles applied to the "talking board".

If your interest is strictly in the Ouija Board itself, the 1st 2 chapters will give you the history of the Board, the Game and it's media press. But this book is really about applying consistent control in all forms of divination to focus the type of Spirit called. Rather than repeat well worn (and well published) truisms, the author seems to have concentrated on what Aleister Crowley and his disciples actually DID, whether it was thru Tarot, Astrology, Ceremonial Magick or Enochian. The common factor was exerting their Will and concentration to calling forth specific Results. Remakable. 93 / 93 Chuck Furnace

Occult forces viewed on the physical plane

This book provides quite classical information on the little know bit about the beast himself, Aleister Crowley. It applies basic information from the banishing ritual and the information in his pages to a quite interesting experience that can be had by not only the highest ceremonial magician's. The author pulls together a good amount of information about this board and the way it was used by one of the greatest occultists of all time. The book is defiantly worth more then a simple pick up at a library as it can be useful for review long after the first read.
